Cohesive bandages will attach to each other but not to other tapes or to the skin. Like adhesive tapes, they are useful for supporting and compressing injured soft tissues. In general, they may not provide the degree of support and compression obtainable from the strongest adhesive tapes. However, during removal, cohesive tapes will not damage or tear the hair on the skin. For this reason, they are a popular option for treating soft tissue injuries among animals (e.g. horses) as adhesive taping would cause significant pain and tearing or fur during removal.
Cohesive bandages are also reusable. They are therefore more cost effective than adhesive tapes on a “per use” basis.
