COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease characterized by a wide range of symptoms. These include persistent dry coughing, fever and shortness of breath. In extreme but relatively few cases, it can lead to organ failure and death.
In addition to its highly infectious nature, COVID-19 is able to spread through asymptomatic but infected individuals. These properties have posed significant challenges to public health infrastructure in many countries. It has also increased the demand for medical devices that help to limit the risk of infection (also known as Personal Protective Equipment or PPE). These devices include masks, respirators, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, thermometers, isolation gowns, googles and several other devices.
